Accident Investigations Unit

The Accident Investigations Unit for the Foley Police Department has multiple certified Traffic Homicide Investigators and an officer certified in Traffic Crash Reconstruction. During 2023, AIU worked 1,566 total crashes. This unit utilizes a covert speed detective device and portable speed trailers that help to identify problem areas for speeding. It is also useful in acquiring traffic data that can be used to increase safety on the roadways. Through research, the group has found that a majority of crashes occur between Tuesday and Friday from 7:00am to 7:00pm.
